The OMEP Asia Pacific Regional Conference 2021

The OMEP Asia Pacific Regional Conference 2021 will be held both on-line and on-site due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The on-site conference will be held between November 5th and 7th, 2021. The conference will be host by OMEP Asia Pacific Region and organized by OMEP China. The conference aims to promote quality of early childhood development and education, and enhance mutual learning in the Early Childhood Education field in the Asia Pacific Region. In particular, the conference will organize featured country or regional symposia to enhance mutual professional exchange in the region.

Conference themes

The conference theme is “Strong Children Today, Better Asia-Pacific Tomorrow” and the 10 sub-themes are as follows:

1. Challenges under COVID-19 and response of early childhood education

2. Early learning and development in the information age

3. Play and toys in children’s learning

4. Social culture embedded in early childhood curriculum

5. Quality evaluation and assurance in Early Childhood Education and Care

6. Policy and practice of birth to three child care and education

7. Preparation and professional development of early childhood workforce

8. Partnership among childcare centers, families and communities

9. Early inclusive education for disadvantaged and vulnerable children

10. Muti-disciplinary perspectives for Early Child Development and Education

Types of presentation

The types of presentations include 9 keynote speeches, featured country/regional symposia and individual paper presentations. The featured country/regional symposia are specially organized in this conference to promote mutual learning and professional exchanges in early childhood development and education among difference countries and regions in the APR. The details are as follows:

Types of presentations	Requirements
Keynote speeches	All the speeches will be videotaped and the recorded speeches will be presented on the first day of the conference.
Featured Country/Regional Symposium	The country or regional OMEP committee is invited to organize a symposium and introduces the development of early childhood development and education in the country or region. Each session lasts for 90 minutes. The committee is required to provide the video clips of the presentation and the slides to OMEP China before October 1st.
Individual Paper Presentation	Each parallel session lasts for 90 minutes and each individual presentation lasts for 15--20 minutes. Presenters who will attend the on-line conference are required to provide the video clips of the presentation and the slides to OMEP China before October 1st.
