China National Society of Early Childhood education (CNSECE) is certified by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, under the governance and guidance of the Ministry of Education. As a national academic society, CNSECE currently has more than 20281 individual members and 1081 corporative members, among which are 38 provincial-level Early Childhood Education Societies around China. There have been seven branches of CNSECE including Early Childhood Health Education Committee, Play and Toys Committee, Early Childhood Management Committee, Kindergarten Curriculum and Learning Committee, Early Childhood Social Education Committee, Early Childhood Teachers’ Professional Development Committee and Early Childhood Principal Theories Committee. Meanwhile, CNSECE is also a group member of OMEP and has a OMEP China Committee.

The core responsibility of CNSECE is to comprehensively implement the national guidelines and policies on early childhood education, to unite and lead the early childhood educators to explore the law of child development, to conduct the research for solving theoretical and practical problems of early childhood education, and to make positive contributions to promoting the development of early childhood education, improving the quality of education, and promoting the healthy growth of young children.

Over the years, CNSECE has persisted in carrying out various forms of academic research activities. In particular, since 2001, it has organized members to carry out research of the national “10th Five Year Plan” “11th Five Year Plan” “12th Five Year Plan” and "13th five year plan", which has played a positive role in promoting mass education and scientific research. In this way, CNSECE improves the quality of early childhood education.

CNSECE Members actively participated in the activities of the annual academic meeting, and the number of papers submitted and its participants have increased over the years. The various professional committees of CNSECE regularly carry out rich academic activities in different research fields, providing a platform for theoretical learning and experience sharing among members. It has become an important way for CNSECE to gather experts, unite members and serve practice.

Over the past decade, CNSECE and its professional committees have successively undertaken a number of research projects by national departments, such as the Ministry of Education and the United Nations Children's Fund. They have become the think tank of China's early childhood education policy-making, been dedicated to leading China's kindergarten curriculum reform, teachers' professional development, and achieved many high-level and influential research results. In recent years, CNSECE has integrated the source of all parties to strengthen the compulsory training of early childhood teachers from ethnic minority areas and Western China.

In 2013, OMEP China Committee successfully held the 65th World OMEP Conference, and carried out various exchange activities to increase international visibility of China's early child education reform and practices. Over the years the Journal of CNSECE ( Preschool Education Research) has continuously improved to promote the exchange and the transmission of early childhood education theory and experience. Recently CNSECE has been strengthening its efforts and means of information service. Through the "China Early Child Education Research Network", the WeChat public official account and CNSECE newsletter, more professional and convenient services are provided for the majority of early childhood educators, and a closer relationship is produced between the CNSECE and its members.
